To Him We Return

I lost another ex-classmate yesterday from MRSM Terendak. At the age of 46. He has not been in the greatest of health for a number of years but none the less, it came as a great surprise to all of us.

I found out about the news just as I was starting my afternoon clinic. Anita called me and she planned to visit as she knew the deceased wife. A quick scroll at my ex-schoolmate WhatApps feed confirmed the news.

After my late afternoon rounds, I joined Anita and a few of my friends at the Masjid in PJ for prayers. The jenazah was then brought to Kelang for burial.

Life and death are facts of life and as a Doctor, I deal with such events almost on a daily basis. But when it happened to somebody you knew from when you were young, the feeling was different. You kept having a thoughts when you were carefree growing up as teenagers. Nothing could touch you and death seems to be something which would only happen when you were old, surrounded by grandchildren. Certainly not something which would happen at the age of 46.

To his young family - his wife was also my classmate and he has 2 teenage boys - stay strong and take it as a test from Allah. I am sure you will come out of this stronger and we would be around to.lend a helping hand if needed.

Met a few old friends when I was at the Masjid. Some which I had not met for a few years. As we grew older and apart, my late father said that we would only meet at weddings and funerals. Well, that is certainly true. Alfatihah ....
