Sunday at Publika

The second bit of shopping mall decorations I experienced this Ramadhan so far was at Publika. Yes, there were plenty of stalls and shopping, but you could appreciate the theme behind it.

The shopping were divided into two areas. The one inside the main mall has a railway theme to it. Of course, in the olden days where there were no highways, balik kampung would mean a ride in a crowded train. At Publika, the stalls were lines up in the middle of the foyer, leaving plenty of walking space in the outside. Each canopies has a station name assigned to theme, based on the KTM stations on the West Coast train route.

The head of the locomotive sat right at the main entrance, which also served as playground for children. And the shopping experience according to Anita was a great one. There were plenty of choices. The trend this year seemed to be batik and we could see plenty of great designs around.

The second part of the stalls were placed outside the main building, at Publika Square. I was covered and air-conditioned. The theme for this alternative venue was “Bazaar Gurindam Raya”. Not much difference from the indoors stalls although the batik here caught my eyes more than the one inside. I actually shopped there ...

All in all, a great place to shop and Anita managed to complete her Raya shopping in just one morning. There were a few design launches as well and we were treated to a fashion show. Added to that was a small exhibition on railway arts, some nice paintings  selling at not so nice price ...

As the topping, there was even a miniature train booth just for good measure ... We were there on a Sunday and I must say that it was a Sunday Morning well spent ...
