With a wide-angle capture, the whole picture could be captured without much hassle

After a busy few days upon my return to Penang, I had the chance to try my new panorama set up in town. A photo walk with the GFX-50R with GF 23mm f4 wide-angle lens attached to it was the plan for the day. And the walk revealed a few things.

First of all, the lens was tact-sharp. Even wide open. The periphery of the snaps may look softer compared to the middle - as you would expect - but a big of artificial vignetting would solve that.

The main problem I was having was converging verticals. They were really pronounced, and can’t be effectively fixed in post. The only way around this would be to embrace this and factor it into the snaps. Sometimes it works, some other time it was disastrous.

At the moment, this remains a work in progress. I have always love wide-angle street photography. I find it easier to paint a bigger picture. With practice, maybe this might just work!
