Quick Stop at Mary Jane KL

Nice sunshine bathing the cafe in the afternoon

We did not plan to stop here. Mary Jane had been a popular spot off Chinatown in KL for some time. It was through a combination of good food and exclusive, Instagram-worthy interior that the place had become really popular among young adults. We hardly fit the demography, but I thought why not.

It was a Thursday, and we had had a long day. Our Maid some issues entering the country due to quarantine arrangements. We finally got things sorted that morning and she just landed at KLIA and will be spending the next five days at a hotel. We felt the weight of the world being lifted.

As I managed to finish my work early, we decided to have a late afternoon stop there. Luckily, we managed to secure a table, although it was only available for an hour.

I am sure this is a popular spot

We had tea and some snacks. But Anita could not stop admiring the decorations. No wonder the place was popular.

As we entered through the ground floor, the entrance was curtained up, so that those walking on the streets could not peer into the inside. We took our seats upstairs and the scene was totally changed. From the dark interior, we were treated with pink flowers and relaxed ambiance. It felt that we were transported out from busy Chinatown to somewhere else.

Anita enjoyed her tea of course, served in English teapot with scones on the side. I opted for a cold mocktail. It hit the spot! The place was empty at the time, but I could imagine posing around there could be awkward when it was packed. Securing a table here during peak times is apparently difficult. So, we might come here again for late afternoon teas only during weekdays.

Mary Jane is located along Jalan Petaling. Parking is available off the streets. As the place is actually an old shophouse unit, there was no designated parking. The Pasar Seni MRT station is only 5 minutes away though.
