High King Seafood Kukup
20 minutes from Tanjung Piai, along the main trunk road to Johor Bahru, we stopped Kukup town for lunch. It was fishing village which now has a jetty for boats to Tanjung Balai in Riau, Indonesia. This is a popular entry point for our neighbours either to come to visit or to work. And we were there just for the food.
Azie and her husband Amin are familiar with the town and they took us to High King Restaurant which had a reasonable selection of seafood. And they were excellent. Better than the ones we were used to in Kuala Selangor. The crab and fishes were fresher and the price more affordable. We ended up ordering too much crab in the end and had to take some home.
You could see that this was a traditional village with plenty of boats coming in and out of the jetty while we were waiting for our food. We did not have much time to look around the place since it was teamed with immigrants. We were also full and sleepy by the time we were done with lunch, not really looking forward for the 45 minutes drive back to Horizon Hill ...
