Selamat Hari Raya

Raya this time around was a surreal one. I woke up around Subuh only to find out that the power was out on half the house in Gombak. The part renovated recently had power, but the old section were all in a blackout!

Was it just some wiring issue? Was it part of power outage from outside. The answer soon came when the neighbours along the row also had the same problem. Apparently, the new part of the house had a different wiring system coming in and was spared. My brother-in-law soon called the Electricity Board who promised to look into the issues.

After a cold shower, we soon left for prayers at Bukit Antarabangsa. But on our return, the power has yet to be restored. Another phone call was made, and to our surprise, the voice on the other side of the phone claimed that the problem had been rectified! Ooopps!

Finally, the TNB trucks came in droves later that afternoon and power were back on by around 5 pm. We had the whole Raya celebration in the dark, with plenty of guests coming in. Luckily, the main kitchen still had power, and the stoves were still working. Food was not a problem. Some of our friends used the room downstairs - the only one with power - and the festivities went on.

The guests on the second day were much luckier with great weather and no issues with power. Syahril and family came on the second day as we went on with the celebration. I spent half the time in Bukit Antarabangsa and half in Gombak with my Sister spending Raya with my Mum there.

It was a lovely week away from work after having back to back calls in the last couple of weeks before Raya.
