Return to the Smokehouse

As I mentioned before, it has been four years since we were there - also during the Aidil Adha period back in 2016. Rumours have it that the previous owner was looking to sell the place. Things were on the decline. We were surprised that the charm was still maintained, and to honest, it appeared to have thrived. The site was a lot greener, and just as cosy.

We were there for the afternoon tea, to enjoy the famous scones. We were not disappointed. We took a table at the terrace, in the breeze with birds chirping around us. The scones remained scrumptious, and the tea remained authentic.

Despite being the middle of the week, there were still crowds. Since we were still in MCO, we were not allowed to mingle around inside the cottage before the time for food. So, not much exploring was done.

There had been some modification to the main private garden, where Idlan and Irfan used to play in the swing as toddlers. The walls by the bar were filled with climbing shrubs. Flower pots on every corner. It certainly made me yearn to return, to spend a few nights there, enjoying the cool evenings, thrown in some mist if we were lucky. After all, it was only a couple of hours drive from the heart of KL.
