Kelby Walk 2020
The walk this year was a departure from yesteryears. I missed last year’s edition as I was spending the weekend with friends in PD, so I was eager to join this time around.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the format has changed, and we ended up going out in small groups—none of the crowd of 50s whoosh we had before.
The organiser, Ripi called up the usual suspects which I only often meet once a year - Captain Rahmat and Zol - while the others couldn’t meet up for one reason or the other.
The four of us met at Syed Bistro at Jalan Doraisamy for breakfast. It was raining when I was doing my ward round, which got me worried. It was still raining when I joined Pak Rahmat, but it soon cleared away. In fact, the rest of the morning was bathed with sunshine, getting almost unbearable by lunchtime.
Not much highlight to speak off, but we did enjoy lunch and the stop at Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock outlay along Jalan Dang Wangi. Rahmat and Zol practically grew up around this part of KL, and they had plenty of tales to share.
We walked to the edge of Kampung Baru, turning back when it turned humid. By noon, we were ready for lunch. Zol recommended the duck rice at Heritage Row, near where we started. The can of coke and the hot meal really did the trick, before we end the meet.
Zol then dropped Ripi and I at REXKL, where I wanted to catch the opening of a photography exhibition there - Tengok Betul Betul - before we finally called it a day.
For this walk, I was using the Fujifilm GFX50R medium format digital camera, with the Fujinon GF 45mm f2.8 lens.
