Funny Old Last Few Days

The last weekend had been a right old swing. And what I meant was the Malaysian political landscape. In the previous years, there was always a source which I turn to at times like this. Somebody who had usually been in the know, the late Dr TP Yin. I missed our little conversations in the Doctor’s Lounge whenever something unexpected was happening in our political landscape.

So, Tun Mahathir had quit. He is now the interim Prime Minister, a term which we Malaysians are not used to. I am not sure what that mean in the constitutional sense, but I do appreciate why the Agong insisted as so. At the moment, there were too many fractions with politicians running around like kids at a birthday party. Everybody were showing their true colours, and it was just the beginning.

I am sure in the coming weeks, the story would unfold and Malaysia will never be the same again. It just goes to show how fickle these politicians are, how power got to their head and their brain - which not all of them appeared to have!

Thankfully, things were calm on the surface. I hope none of this dimwits would play on the race card as that would really stir things up. In the current slow economy, it would not take much of a spark to get the common folks excited. And a snap General Election would not help any party as it would just create more anxiety. And that is never good! I am praying that things will boil over in the coming few days and the constitutional crisis could be averted. It will take longer than that however to clear out all this mess and distrust. And as I said, once the dust settles, the Malaysia will never be the same again ...
