Afternoon at Mountbatten

Relaxing atmosphere. With a touch of greenery.

We stumbled across Mountbatten KL while driving towards Bukit Bintang. Apparently Anita learned about the place online but was not sure of the exact location. This part of KL was also not blessed with parking spots. But things turned out well. We parked near Muzium Telekom as we were planning to stop by there last Saturday afternoon. This cafe was only a five minute walk away.

Jalan Tun Perak, where this cafe was located was used to be called Mountbatten Road. So, the name of the cafe was apt, although it does not strictly serve English food. It has a simple and clean ambiance, welcoming for those who wanted to stop for a quick drink while doing some web surfing or work. The food selection was also straightforward but covers the essentials.

The main thing was the coffee, and Mountbatten had that covered. As we were there on a Saturday afternoon, the place was almost full. It was raining outside, hence I was not able to photograph the beautiful facade it has from the main road. I am sure I will be back again soon and will capture more snaps.

It has a couple of floors, with the upper floor being an open space with a tall ceiling. The prices were reasonable as well, although we did not have a full meal. I had nachos while Anita munched on some salads. Drink-wise, Anita had her usual tea - she is not a coffee-drinker, while I had a mocktail to quench my thirst.

In terms of location, Mountbatten has plenty of competition with Timothy, Mingle Cafe and LOKL nearby. As those places tended to be crowded during weekend, this may offer an alternative, and not a bad one at that. Definitely recommended.

I used my Leica M240 for the photos on this entry. More snaps can be seen here.
