Off to Langkawi

On Saturday, we received a phone call from another parent that some of Idlan’s friends tested positive for COVID while having while we had our breakfast. Idlan himself was feeling fine and tested negative. However, he would need to be isolated. Since the Langkawi room was still booked, I decided to drive up to Kuala Perlis, take a ferry, rent a car and sort Idlan out. Anita stayed back in Penang.

The drive up took me two and a half hours. I had my ferry ticket pre-booked online. I also called ahead for the rental car - got myself a brand new Yaris to drive. Got a parking space for my car overnight on the mainland. And off I went ...

My God, I was glad Anita did not come along. It was a rough ride despite the outwardly calm weather. The boat was rolling and rocking, and I was happy to leave the cabin when I arrived at Kuah.

It took me another half an hour to drive from Kuala to Cenang, where Idlan was. He was already packed up and waiting for me at Starbucks. We then had dinner and settled into the hotel.
