Since the pandemic, weddings have been the litmus test of how open the community were concerning the restrictions. Last year, people were worried that weddings would create a hotspot of cases. But as time went by, we became more relaxed.
Since the turn of the year, there appeared to be weddings almost every weekend, especially leading up to Ramadan. Last weekend, Anita and I attended a wedding of one of my cuisines, and it was probably the first time I met some of my relatives since the lockdown.
It looks like things are going back to normal. The coming Ramadan should be back to how things were in 2019. Not to mention the exodus for Eid in April later. Compared to the West, we were slower to embrace the reopening. And soon, the memories of the lockdown would be something we would tell our grandchildren.
