It's Finally Here

The three rear cameras

The three rear cameras

After the hype machine went into full hear, the iPhone 11 has finally reached our shore. I decided to go for the three camera configuration, minus the size. So, when the pre-order offer was announced, I booked the 11 Pro.

My previous main phone was the iPhone X. A few months back, I dropped the phone, and both the cameras and the Face ID stopped working. That alone is a good enough excuse to upgrade.

Nice to know that the new phone rock with the brand new 13 mm ultra-wide camera, ideal for somebody who loves wide-angle street photography like me. What else could explain my collection of the 10-23 mm zoom for the X-Pro system, the 18mm Batis for my Sony, the Super-Vario-Elmar for the Leica CL and the 23 mm prime for my GFX medium format? I am happy to be let loose in town with a Go-Pro. In fact, that was what I did during the last Kelby Walk. A Go-Pro and a full-frame with a standard prime lens. That is enough for me ...

It all made sense. The lack of optical image stabilisation on the ultra-wide is a pain.

On the hardware side, I could not complain as it certainly comes with a powerful underbelly. Since I also carry with me the Note 10+ for work, the 11 Pro Max would be just a pain to carry around. The longer battery life certainly would be a bonus. Dark mode? I am used to that on Android, so it was nothing new.

All I needed to do now would be to bring in out into town and snap away, then upload the photos onto Lightroom and see the results. More to come later...
