The Streets around Chow Kit
One thing unique about this part of Kuala Lumpur around Chow Kit was the back lanes. It had plenty of bad press in the old days. This was the seedier part of town and known to be where prostitutes and drug addicts hang out.
Over the years, those activities were cracked down. The area was now populated by migrant population, some had been redeveloped while others just dwindled away. Certainly venturing around there was not as intimidating as it used to be.
There were new buildings - apartment blocks and offices - being built. Generally, the area was quite bright and even charming. After leaving the Chow Kit Market, Azul brought us around these old lanes and certainly the presented us with plenty of shooting opportunity.
Most of the people who lived there - mainly migrants - work around Chow Kit area. Plenty of public transport connecting this part of town into the rest and this turn out to be quite an attractive area to live in. And on a Sunday morning, things were quiet ...
