Kelly Walk 2022

Anita very rarely goes out for photowalks with me. So, I was pleasantly surprised that she agreed to join me last weekend during the Kelby Photowalk for this year. The route was through Chinatown and involved food. I had to sit down with her later if the food was the main attraction.

Rather than staying quiet, she got on famously with my friends.

The walk started at Central Market, where we parked. The meeting point was Zakeer Restaurant, the famous mamak eatery right by the market entrance. Of course, things kicked off after the walk leader - Ripi - gave his briefing, and we took our obligatory group photo.

We then made our way towards Petaling Street - which was still quiet then. We walked across towards the north end, turning right towards Pasar Karat - a street market opened during weekends.

We then headed back towards the River of Life, stopping by several temples. The nice weather provides great spectacles and lights as we explore the city. We stopped for a drink by the River of Life, entertained by Pak Adib’s stories of Kuala Lumpur’s yesteryears. The pace of the walk was should I say, comfortable.

The sun was already high when we walked by Masjid Jamek. Rather than making our way towards the final meeting point, REXKL, we decided to take a detour for lunch. We had nasi daun pisang no less, having a great time. We were full by the time we were done and decided to head back to Central Market towards the car and return home.

A nice walk, and importantly, Anita got to know my friends, and she had a good time. She might join me again in the future. It was a good day.
