A Most Excellent Walk
A couple of days before the CNY break, my usual photowalk gang decided to have a morning out. We agreed on Pudu and its famous wet market this time around. We anticipated colours and crowds as locals prepared for the coming CNY feast. But in keeping with the pandemic, there was less crowd than usual, and they were not as colourful.
Around 30% of the stalls remained closed in the main market, contrasting that to the spillover we had previously. The dry market was still going strong in the outskirts, which was our main target for this outing.
We spent almost an hour at the market area before heading back towards LaLaport, searching for old mansions I remember photographing back in 2014. Sad to say that those building has since been demolished to make way for new developments.
That did not stop us, though, as the architecture of the shoplifts around Pudu has a mix of the old Kuala Lumpur and a more modern part. In fact, I could spend all morning just exploring if I have had the time. By the time I was down, I had pressed the shutter almost 300 times and spent the whole afternoon looking at the captures and uploading them to my Flickr feed. Pudu is special. That was all I had to say. It would be great if somebody knew the area well to take us around on a tour. In fact, this can be said to all parts of KL - Kampung Baru, Kepong, Kajang, Bukit Bintang and even Chinatown, which we all took for granted. These places have stories from the past waiting to be told ...
