Floria Time
It's Merdeka Day. For as long as I could remember, I had been on call for these holidays since I joined SJMC. But this year, I no longer do medical calls and had the Merdeka Day free. I decided it was a good idea to head to Putrajaya and visit the flower show, Pesta Floria.
I finished my rounds early, and just after 9 am, we were already on the roads, entering the flower show before 10.30. It was already hot by then, and the day just got hotter.
I was surprised at how crowded the place was even this early in the day. The queue for the car park was already 500m long. Hence we took a spot a little further away. Sorting out the tickets was simple since we bought them online. It cost us RM15 per head.
It was difficult to manoeuvre, and getting portraits for Anita was tricky. But on the whole, the event was worth visiting, if not for the packed crowd.
The show was not Sambung as I remembered from the previous years, but it might as well. The hot weather tire is out by the time lunchtime arrives. We got some snacks from one of the stalls and just watched the crowd go by.
Maybe it would be a better idea to come in the late afternoon, staying into the evening to watch the light show. The weather might be cooler then, although I imagine it would be just as crowded. It was definitely worth the trip. Parking was easy if you were willing to walk a bit further. Be prepared to bring an umbrella and wear a comfortable pair of shoes - Anita suffered some blisters from her trouble.
