The Lemon Tree
There was plenty of hype about this cafe, The Lemon Tree. Little did I realise that getting there in itself was an adventure. It was not in town but in Tropicana instead.
Anyhow, the Sunday afternoon traffic was kind. And with the timing, there were not many patrons as well, which might as well since the place was smaller than I thought.
We were ushered towards a table in the middle of the cafe by the famous tree. Then, another revelation dawned on me. The tree was a fake. Even the trunk was not real! Darn!
The ambience was pleasant enough, and the food was a standard affair. Nothing special. The list on the menu was also on the light side, ideal for snacking rather than a serious meal. I can imagine the place being packed on a normal day.
To be honest, the waiters could have made our visit there more pleasant. We asked for a bigger table - the place was half empty - but was turned down. So, when our order arrived, creativity was needed to fit everything in front of us. I guess we, as a couple were not hip enough.
Would we be coming back? I don’t think it was worth making the trip all the way from Bangsar for this. I think the experience was best summed up by the fact that as soon as we left, we went straight to Bangsar Shopping Centre and stopped at Momaku. Things were much better there ...
